Beware of neck pain, it could be the beginning of the pinched nerve

Almost everyone has experienced neck pain, ranging from mild to severe to interfere with daily activities. Even so, most of the people often ignore neck pain, even though at that time the body is giving a sign that something is wrong with our body, and it could be a pinched nerve.

It is possible that the pain in the neck indicates a pinched nerve. A pinched nerve in the neck or what is known as a cervical disc herniation is a condition in which the contents of the cervical spine leak out, pinching the neck nerve. Neck pinching generally occurs in people aged 30 to 50 years, but can also occur at a younger or older age.

Treatment for neck nerve clamps varies from medications to physiotherapy to surgery, depending on the severity of the nerve clamp. In certain cases where severe weakness is found, surgery may be the only option for healing the nerve impingement.

The operation is performed with the aim of releasing the clamp by taking a pad that presses on the nerve. With the Percutaneous Endoscopic Cervical Discectomy (PECD) technique, the clamp can be removed with an incision of only 0.5 cm.

The wound after the PECD operation, he said, is certainly smaller when compared to conventional surgery where the wound reaches 2 cm. The removed pads can be replaced using bone or synthetic pads so that the neck does not lose its function of motion and can carry out its normal function.

The risk of surgical failure for the neck nerve clamp is quite low. Bleeding during surgery is generally less than 50 cc and the duration of surgery ranges from 45-90 minutes. In addition, the advantage of this PECD is that within a few hours of running the operation the patient can go home from Spine Clinic Surabaya (one day care).
